BLANK PAGE TO WORKING DRAFT ESSAY CLASS
An acceptable college essay can be knocked out in a week. A fantastic essay takes time to percolate. This class is designed to give students accountable guidance as well as mental breathing room to tinker with their ideas. The group environment, we find, enhances creativity and gives a sense of teamwork in conquering the college essay.
This class has six hours of direct instruction and then each student will have a one-hour individual session with the instructor to review their working draft and ideally shape it into a final draft.
Week 1: Finding your topic
Week 2: Structuring your story
Week 3: Enhancing your language
Week 4: Revising your work (one-hour virtual individual session)
Students will need to bring a laptop or similar device on which to type and should come prepared to open and share Google Documents. Classes limited to 6 students.

COLLEGE ESSAY OPTIONS
With hundreds of colleges going test optional, qualitative measures like essays and letters of recommendation will weigh more heavily in the admissions process than ever.
And we believe this is a good thing!
For over two decades, The Davidson Center has been guiding students as they translate their most powerful and thoughtful stories into 650 words or less, as well as navigate the often overlooked and equally important short responses.
Writing a college essay doesn’t need to be stressful. In fact, we believe it can be an enlightening and joyful process. We invite you to join our resident Essay Specialist, Amanda Miller, in the opportunity that best suits your student and schedule.
COLLEGE ESSAY BOOT CAMP
A blank page is an unwilling writer’s worst enemy. The Davidson Center College Essay Boot Camps are designed to kick start the essay process by guiding a handful of students through the idea generation process. Students will finish feeling confident that they can write a strong essay and, more importantly, leave with sketched outlines of strong, personal essays (as well as some additional resources) with which they can work independently.
This two-hour in person boot camp is limited to six students. Students need to bring a laptop or similar device on which to type and come prepared to open and share Google Documents. In addition to the two hours of direct instruction, each student receives a
30-minute virtual review of their first draft within one week of the boot camp date.

INDIVIDUAL ESSAY SESSIONS
Some students work better one-on-one. Others feel really confident with their first draft and just want a professional to check it over. We understand!
Individual sessions are available throughout the summer. Give us a call to let us find the time that works be for your students.
